The “Unfortunately, (App Name) has stopped unexpectedly” error is one of the most common and most irritating errors that the Android OS is plagued by, and a common victim of this error is the extremely integral Settings app.

In most cases, simply restarting the device can do the trick and get rid of the “Unfortunately, Settings has stopped” error. To restart; Press and hold the device’s Power button. When a pop-up menu appears, look for and tap on the option named Restart or something similar. Confirm the action and wait for the device to reboot.

The following are some of the most effective methods that can be used to fix the “Unfortunately, Settings has stopped” error:

Method 1: Clear the device’s RAM

1. One of the most common causes of the “Unfortunately, Settings has stopped” error is a lack of free Random Access Memory (RAM). Clearing the device’s RAM is one of the best ways to go if what a person wants to do is get rid of this error.

2. Navigate to the device’s onboard RAM Manager.

3. Clear the device’s RAM by tapping on Clear RAM or something similar.

4. Run the Settings app and it should run without producing any errors.

Method 2: Clear the cache for the Settings app

Since corrupted cache files can also cause the Settings app to fail and force close out of the blue, another method which can be used to fix the “Unfortunately, Settings has stopped” error is to clear the cache and data for the Settings app.

1. Open the Settings app.
