How to Upload Photos from Android to OneDrive

$

Adding photos to OneDrive from an Android phone isn’t a rocket science. It is something hundreds and thousands of Android users would do every day. Uploading pictures, videos and other data on OneDrive is primarily done to back up the data. Phones usually crash and the data is lost. If it is uploaded on a virtual space like OneDrive, they can easily be recovered at any point in time.

There are two ways you can upload your data on OneDrive. One, you can tell OneDrive to automatically upload your photos. OneDrive will ask you about it when you sign in for the first time. You can set it at that time. If you miss it, you can still turn this feature on from settings. Another way of uploading photos on OneDrive is uploading them manually. Both the ways are described here.

2016-09-22_212057

Method 1: Set OneDrive settings to automatic uploading

Search for OneDrive App in your Apps. After opening it, tap on Menu () and then hit on Settings. Search for an option named Camera Upload. After you find it, turn Camera Upload to ON. Now that the Camera Upload is on, all your pictures will upload to your OneDrive account automatically, without you having to manually upload them every now and then.

However, this can take up a lot of battery. To cut battery consumption, you can select an option in the same settings named Upload only when charging. With this option selected, OneDrive will only upload your photos when your phone is charging.

Method 2: Upload photos manually

In OneDrive, you can upload photos in the space directly or in a folder. For the latter, select the folder you want to upload your photos to. Once you are where you want to upload, you will see an ADD () button. Tapping this button will open your documents. Search through your files and select the ones you want to upload and they will be uploaded.

How to Uninstall Blank Malware on Android

Malware apps on Android can be tricky to deal with. Fortunately there are a few viable methods available for exterminating Android malware.

Sometimes, it may not be immediately obvious that you have a malware app, but if you notice any applications on your device that won’t go away, including blank malware apps, adware or uninstallable apps, then the methods we have provided below should be able to help.

These methods will be particularly useful for deleting a malware app that cannot be uninstalled through the usual methods.

ollie-antivirus

Method 1: Uninstall in Safe Mode

Each Android device has a safe mode that allows you to regain control of your software in situations where you otherwise may not be able to. All apps that were not already on your device to begin with will be disabled in safe mode, so it’s always good to check whether you can uninstall a malware app from within safe mode.

To access safe mode, first hold down the power button like you usually would to switch off the device. Instead of pressing the on-screen button once to switch off the device, hold the on-screen power button down and an option to enter safe mode will appear.

ollie-safe-mode

Once you have entered safe mode you can attempt to uninstall the app via the usual methods such as uninstalling it from your app drawer, or from the ‘apps’ menu in the settings app.

Method 2: Use an Antivirus App

In some cases, viruses can hide themselves as system files and this means that they may be able to trick the system into letting them run whilst your device is in safe mode.

Fortunately, there is a method available for removing any hidden threats that couldn’t be removed with method 1.

Apps such as AVG antivirus or Avast mobile security can run system-wide virus scans on your device. These apps will be able to pick up any threats that their security systems have managed to detect.

To test this method ourselves, we used AVG antivirus to run a scan. The scan went through every app and service installed on the device to test for any hidden threats.

Method 3 – Root Your Device and Uninstall

If you can’t remove the malware app from your Android device by using the traditional methods listed above, your best bet may be to brute force the system yourself. If you gain root access on your device, you will be able to download the ‘System app remover (ROOT)’ app from Jumobile on the Google Play Store.

With this app you can pick out services or apps and remove them completely from your smartphone. When using an app like this it is very important that you only remove the offending files. If you remove any important system files you may find that other issues will occur or, alternatively, your device may stop functioning all together.

system-file-remover

To root your particular device you will need to search our website or use Google search to find a suitable root guide. Keep in mind that rooting your smartphone can affect your warranty and it doesn’t come without it’s own risks.

Method 4: Reset Your Device

If all else fails, your best bet may be to backup your files and reset your device back to factory default settings. You can pick up a cloud storage app like Dropbox, Box or Google Drive to perform a complete backup of your important files and then factory reset your smartphone by following the steps below.

If you make sure to backup everything beforehand, you shouldn’t lose any data besides local app data.

Here is how to factory reset your smartphone:

Open the ‘settings’ app

Scroll down and locate ‘backup & reset’ or ‘backup’ or ‘reset’

In the following menu, locate the ‘factory reset’ option

Make sure you have at least 30% battery and then tap ‘reset phone’ button

ollie-factory-reset

After a factory reset, all of your apps will be removed. This should also remove the malware app from your system. You can now sign back into your Google account and download your backup app from the Google Play Store to backup your files.

Let us know if these methods have helped you to solve your Android malware problem.

How to Remove GoAdSDK

$

GoAdSDK can be difficult to remove – it is usually created by a specific application and even if you delete the root folder, it will reappear until the host app has been removed from your device.

What is GoAdSDK?

GoAdSDK is an aggressive adware tool that will force pop-ups on your device, on your lock screen, and in your notifications bar.

To further explain it, GoAdSDK is a software package that features a system for placing ads on your display and it usually comes from software and apps from the GO launcher team.

Below we have listed a number of methods available for stopping GoAdSDK from displaying ads on your device.

Method 1: Stop Permissions for GO Launcher Apps

For this method, you will need to manually edit the permissions for all of the GO Launcher applications on your device. Because there are a large number of apps from the GO Launcher team, you’ll need to visit this page and determine which apps are currently installed on your device. Make a note of all of the applications that are currently installed.

ollie-go-launcher

Once you have made note of all of the applications that you have installed on your device, you will need to follow the instructions below for each and every GO Launcher app you have installed.

  1. Go to the settings menu on your device
  2. Tap the ‘apps’ option
  3. Tap the menu button at the top right corner
  4. Tap ‘configure apps
  5. Tap ‘Draw over other apps’ in the advanced section
  6. Locate the apps and tap to change their permission to ‘no’

In this example, we have stopped the Next Browser app from drawing over other apps. This will stop pop-up ads on your display.

ollie-drawover-apps

Method 2: Delete GO Launcher Apps

The issue with method 1 is that it may stop pop-up ads on your display, but it has the potential to stop important functionality of the application and it may not stop lock screen or notification bar ads. Unfortunately, the GO Launcher apps are riddled with the GoAdSDK adware so the only option to permanently stop ads and retain app functionality is to delete all of the GO Launcher apps on your device and then install alternatives from a different app developer.

Once again you can use this page to find out which apps of yours belong to the GO Launcher development team. You will need to uninstall every app by the GO developer team. To uninstall the apps, follow the steps below for each and every GO application on your device.

  1. Open the ‘Settings’ app
  2. Open the ‘apps’ menu
  3. Search for the application and tap it
  4. Tap uninstall
  5. Repeat for all noted GO Launcher apps on your device

ollie-nextbrowser-delete

Method 3: Stop Ad Overlay Permissions for All Apps

If you notice that ads are still appearing, even after deleting GO Launcher apps, your best bet may be to stop overlay permissions for all apps on your device. Whilst this will mean that certain apps that require overlay access will remove their functionality, such as screen dimmers or Facebook Messenger’s bubble chat feature, it will mean that you will no longer receive pop-up apps on your device.

To stop overlay permissions for all apps, simply follow the steps we have listed below.

  1. Go to the settings menu on your device
  2. Tap the ‘apps’ option
  3. Tap the menu button at the top right corner
  4. Tap ‘configure apps
  5. Tap ‘Draw over other apps’ in the advanced section
  6. Tap every app on this page individually to set the permission to no
  7. Repeat for all apps on this page

Whether you have chosen method 1, 2 or 3, you should now be able to enjoy using your smartphone without any interruptions from pop-up ads from the GoAdSDK adware.

If your Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge media volume is stuck on mute then you’ll need to perform a few actions to get it fixed. Unfortunately, it may be the case that your smartphone is receiving some kind of hardware issue and in this case you’ll need to send off the Galaxy S7 Edge to Samsung for repair.

However, in most cases the stuck media volume is due to a software or app error and it can usually be fixed with a bit of troubleshooting. Follow the steps we’ve listed below to get the Galaxy S7 media volume fixed.

Method 1: Remove Interfering Apps

It could well be the case that an application is causing your Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge to be stuck on mute. To find out whether this is the case, you’ll first need to reboot your Galaxy S7 Edge into safe mode.

image-ratedmobile

  1. To do this, switch the Samsung Galaxy S7 off.
  2. Next, hold the power key until the Samsung logo appears
  3. Now let go of the power key and immediately hold the volume down key
  4. Continue to hold the down key until the device restarts
  5. ‘Safe Mode’ should appear in the bottom left corner, you will now be able to let go of the volume down key

In safe mode, your Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge will stop all installed applications from running. This means that if an app is causing the media volume glitch you’ll be able to know. If this is the case, the volume should now work in safe mode.

If the volume is still not working you’ll need to refer to method 2.

If the volume is working in safe mode, you’ll now need to go through the process of uninstalling all of the apps you have installed on your device until the volume is fixed.

First, restart your device and put it back into standard user mode by doing the following

  1. Hold the power button and tap power off
  2. Hold the power button again until the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is turned back on

Now that the Galaxy S7 Edge is in standard user mode, you’ll be able to troubleshoot your media volume problem. To begin with, go through your app list and follow the steps below.

samsungcom-uninstall

  1. Try to remember the last app you installed
  2. Uninstall that app after saving any important data in the app to the cloud
  3. Test to see if the media volume can work
  4. If it’s not working, try another app
  5. Continue this process until the sound is working

Method 2: Send for Repair

If the media volume isn’t working in safe mode, chances are that the device has dealt hardware damage. In this case you’ll need to save all of your important files to the cloud and factory reset your device.

Once you have factory reset your device you’ll need to send the Galaxy S7 Edge to Samsung for repair. You may need to call your local Samsung support number to find out how Samsung can repair your phone for you.

If your smartphone is backed by any warranty or insurance, such as warranty from your mobile network provider, you may be able to go through them instead to get it repaired for free.

How to Fix “Unable to Find Application to Perform this Action”

$
0
0

If you are using Android and are getting the “Unable to Find Application to Perform this Action” message, this guide will help you to solve it. Sometimes the message will instead say “File not supported.”

To solve the message listed above, you’ll need to do a bit of investigating. We’ll provide you with the steps below and the tools you’ll need to get it done, but your steps may vary depending on the file you’re trying to open.

ollie-file-not-open

To begin, you’ll need to locate the file or program you’re attempting to run. To do this you’ll need to open the file manager application.

Once you are in the file manager application, navigate to the file you’re attempting to open. Next, hold your finger down on the file until a pop-up page appears with different options. An example is provided below.

ollie-examples

You’ll need to tap the option that says ‘details.’ On your device the option may be named something slightly different. Then, pay attention to the end of the file name. There should be a file extension following the name of the file. For example, it may say ‘filenamehere.rtf.’

ollie-file-type

In our case, this file was a .rtf file extension. In your case you may have a different file extension. Usually file extensions are just three letters long and you can use this information to help you find out how to open it.

For the next step, you’ll need to copy the file extension name into the Google Play Store. In our case, we have searched for ‘rtf viewer’ into the Google Play search. In your case, you may need to search for something different.

Once you have made a search, look through the apps and choose one that may be suitable for reading your file. In our case we have found that Microsoft Word should be able to view our file type.

ollie-microsoft-word

After installing the app we can visit the file manager app again. At this point you will need to re-locate the file you struggled to open previously. You should now be able to tap the file and open it in the application that you have downloaded.

Help, I Can’t Find a Suitable app!

Unfortunately, Android cannot support every single file type. For example, .exe files, which are program files for Windows, will not work on Android. If you cannot find an app in the Google Play Store, chances are that the file is not suitable for your device.

In this case you’ll need to use another device to open the file. In most cases you can find a program to view the file on a Windows PC or a Mac device. Alternatively the file may be designed for a specific mobile operating system.

Usually a quick Google search for the file type in question will return information on what devices can support the file type.

How To Fix Samsung Galaxy Phone “stuck in recovery, can’t mount data”

$
0
0

Getting a Can’t mount /data message when you’re in CWM or TWRP recovery means that your device can’t mount the partition containing all the data for Android to run. Your device won’t boot, but instead you will be stuck in a boot loop. The farthest you will get is the recovery menu, but outside of that you won’t be able to go past the logo screen.

This issue usually appears with users who have installed a custom ROM on their Galaxy S3. Those users have been most probably warned by the developers of the ROM that it might brick their device, and getting this error message basically tells you that your device is bricked.

However, as opposed to a hard brick where your device is pretty much useless and you can’t do anything about it, this is a soft brick and you can fix your device by flashing the stock ROM. You can afterwards try installing a custom one again, but there’s no guarantee that this issue won’t come back. If you’d rather have your phone in a completely usable state, follow the instructions in the method below to flash a stock ROM and continue using it that way.

Samsung’s ODIN is a powerful tool which allows you to save your phone from a number of issues. You can download it from AndroidMTK and install it on your computer, as you will need it. If you’re having issues, install it by right-clicking the setup and choosing Run as administrator. You will also need the stock firmware for your device, which you can get at SamMobile. This is the site with all the available stock ROMs for the Galaxy S3, choose the appropriate one for your country and/or carrier, and download it. Once you’ve downloaded, extract it, to get a *.bin, *.tar or *.tar.md5 file, which are the extensions for the files that ODIN uses. The last thing you will need are the device drivers for seamlessly connecting your phone to your computer. Download them from Samsung’s official website. Once you have everything downloaded, start with the steps below to solve your problem and get your phone back to a working state.

  1. Boot your device into Download mode. To do this, turn your phone off, and hold the Volume Down, Home and Power Keys When the phone vibrates, let go of the Power key but continue holding the other ones pressed. You will get a warning, press the Volume Up key to continue. Your device is now in Download mode.
  2. Open ODIN. Look at the log on the left side of ODIN, and connect your device via a USB cable. In the log, you will see an Added! message, along with the ID of the port where your device is connected.
  3. Depending on the version of ODIN, click on either PDA or Navigate to the stock firmware file and select it, then press Open to add it to ODIN.
  4. Once you’ve added the file, press Start on ODIN to begin the process. ODIN will now flash the stock firmware on your phone.

NOTE: Do not touch, remove, or otherwise disturb your device until ODIN is done. Failing to do so, may result in a hard bricked device, which is one you can’t fix.

  1. Depending on the version of ODIN, when it’s done it will either say PASSED or You now know that your device has the stock firmware and will work properly. The device will reboot, and you’re free to unplug it from your PC.

In the odd case that ODIN fails, you can try to update your drivers, restart your computer or run ODIN as administrator.

Having a bricked device can seriously scare you and lead you to believe that it is useless and you need to throw it away. However, this is fortunately a soft brick and you can solve it using the method above to flash the stock ROM. Afterwards, you can always go to a custom ROM if that’s what you need, just be careful and keep in mind that this error may come back if you do so.

How to Find Paid Apps and In-app purchase History on Google Play

Do you let your children or other family members use your Android smartphone or tablet? Here are some quick tips to check up on your recent purchase history on Google Play to ensure they aren’t draining your credit card.

We’ve all heard nightmare stories about how children have spent 1,000s of dollars worth on in-app purchases without your consent. This guide will help you avoid that nightmare yourself. Below you’ll find information on how to find your paid apps and recent purchase history on Google Play, as well as how to make restrictions on app purchases.

How to Find Recent in-app Purchases & Paid Apps

If your child has a favorite app on your smartphone or tablet, you may need to be extra careful that they aren’t spending hundreds of dollars on in-app purchases without your consent. Sometimes your child may not even be aware that they are purchasing items with real money. For this reason it’s important not to get frustrated at them directly and instead solve the problem from the source and stop your child from being able to purchase in-app items whatsoever.

To begin with though, you may prefer to find out whether your child has spent any money on in-app purchases recently. You can find your recent in-app purchases by following the steps provided below.

  1. Open the Google Play Store
  2. Tap the Menu Button in the Top Left Corner
  3. Scroll Down and Tap Account
  4. Tap the Order History Button

On this page, you’ll be able to find your recent in-app purchase orders and recent paid app purchases. If you see a number of app orders that you aren’t aware of, chances are that another user of your device has purchased them. Take the image below for example. You’ll want to look out for any items you did not purchase yourself – in this example, £7.94 has been spent on Pokemon Go.

ollie-pokecoins

The order page doesn’t stop at in-app purchase history. If you’d like to see whether another user of your device has been purchasing apps, you can navigate the same order page. You can scroll down and view the entire history of that Google account.

If your device uses multiple accounts, make sure to follow the steps below to check the order page for each individual Google account.

  1. Open the Google Play Store Again
  2. Tap the Menu Button in the Top Left
  3. Tap the down arrow at the top of the menu to switch users (if available)
  4. Switch to a new user and then follow the steps to find your order history listed above
  5. Repeat for all connected Google accounts

ollie-new-purchases

As you can see from the image shown above, orders tied to a different account will only appear on that specific account.

How to Limit Purchases

If you’ve noticed that purchases are being made without your consent or you’re worried that this may happen, you can easily limit purchases so that you no longer need to worry about unexpected Google Play fees. Follow the steps below to limit your purchases.

ollie-restrict-purchases

  1. Open the Google Play Store
  2. Tap the Menu Button in the Top Left
  3. Scroll Down and Tap ‘Settings’
  4. Scroll through the settings menu and tap ‘Require Authentication for Purchases’
  5. Tap ‘for all purchases through Google Play on this device’
  6. For extra security, change your Google account password and keep it secret! – If a family member or child knows your password, they’ll be able to bypass the authentication.

Hopefully this guide has helped you to limit your purchases and check whether any unauthorized purchases have been made in the past.

How to Get Past the Galaxy Lockscreen

$

0

If you’ve forgotten your lock pin on a Galaxy Note 4, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge or any other Samsung device, you won’t necessarily need to send it back to Samsung to get it fixed. You may not even need to do a factory reset either.

In this guide we’ll explain how you can get past the Galaxy lockscreen without resetting your data. If you can’t get past without a factory reset, we’ll also explain how you can reset your device completely without getting past the lockscreen.

Method 1: Use Samsung Find My Mobile

If you have signed into a Samsung account on your Galaxy device, you can use the Find My Mobile app from Samsung to get past your lock screen.

Firstly, you’ll need to visit the Samsung Find My Mobile website.

ollie-findmymobile

Once on the website, hover over Find and then log into your Samsung account. Once you have logged in, choose the ‘lock my screen’ option. Once you have chosen that, enter a new PIN code that you will remember and then click Lock. You’ll now be able to unlock your Galaxy smartphone with the new PIN code.

drfone-image

Please keep in mind that this only works for those that have logged into their Samsung account on their smartphone. The next method may be more suitable for those that haven’t logged into a Samsung account.

Method 2: Use Android Device Manager

Android Device Manager is a Google tool that allows you to manage all of your Android devices manually. If you are signed into a Google account on your Samsung device you’ll be able to use this method.

Chances are, you are logged into a Google account – you’ll need to be signed into Google to access important features like the Google Play Store.

Once you have signed into Android Device Manager, you can click the ‘lock’ option on the phone you’re having difficulties getting into. By doing this, you’ll be able to bypass the previous lock screen and enter a new password. Once you have set a password, you’ll be able to use that password to unlock your Galaxy device, so long as your device is currently connected to the internet.

ollie-lock-screen

Although this guide is for Galaxy lockscreens, this method can also be used for other Android smartphones.

Method 3: Call Your Device

If you still haven’t managed to unlock your Galaxy smartphone with either of the methods above, your next best bet is to call your device from another phone.

Whilst this may not work with all Galaxy handsets and all software versions, it can sometimes work. For this to work, you’ll need a friend or a second phone at hand and must know the number of the Galaxy device. Once you’re ready, follow the steps provided below.

  1. Give your Galaxy smartphone a call with another phone.
  2. Answer the call on your Galaxy smartphone.
  3. Once you have answered, press the back button twice.
  4. If successful, you’ll now have full access to your device.
  5. You can now sign into your Samsung account or Google account to change your pin using one of the methods listed above.

Method 4: Factory Reset

Still can’t get past your lockscreen? There is one option left that can still be used. This method will remove all of your data, but it will mean that you won’t need to send off your device and can use it immediately. If you’re happy to perform a factory reset on your Galaxy smartphone, follow the steps listed below.

androidpit-factory-reset

  1. Power off your device
  2. Press and hold the Power Button and the Volume Up Button and the Home Button
  3. You will now have access to the Android system menu
  4. Use the volume up/down keys to navigate to the factory reset option
  5. Press the power button to accept and go through the on-screen prompts to reset your device

We hope that this guide has helped you to get past the Galaxy lockscreen.

Galaxy S7 Edge Feeds aren’t Working

$

The Galaxy S6 Edge has a number of new features available for the Edge display, but Samsung fails to clearly explain how to use some of these features. In this article we’ll explain how you can get the Galaxy S7 Edge Feeds to work when they aren’t being responsive or aren’t showing up on your device.

What are Galaxy S7 Edge Feeds?

With the Galaxy S7 Edge, the curved edge screen has had an upgrade. A new feature included in the Edge screen is called Edge Feeds.

With Edge Feeds messages, missed calls and date/time information can be provided on the edge of the display. This allows owners to quickly glance over at their phone and view any new interactions with their contacts or check up on the time.

Edge Feeds sound easy to use but they do take some setting up that is not explained elsewhere by Samsung.

Turn on Edge Feeds

To ensure that the Galaxy S7 Edge Feeds are working, you must first turn on feeds in the settings menu. To turn on Edge Feeds, follow the steps that are provided below.

  1. Open the ‘apps’ icon from your home screen
  2. Search for and open the ‘settings app
  3. From within the settings app, search for and open ‘Edge Screen’
  4. In the Edge Screen menu, tap ‘Edge Feeds
  5. Tap the switch in the top right corner to turn Edge Feeds on

sammobile-edge-feeds

You can also change settings for how the Edge Feeds work from within this menu. You can include settings for how long it takes for the feeds to switch off after inactivity, change what feeds are included and customize the feeds.

By default the date/time feed is the only feed that is activated. You’ll need to turn on more feeds or download more from the Google Play Store or from within the Edge Feeds settings menu before you can use additional feeds. Currently the number of available feeds is limited, but support for developers to create their own is possible.

Swipe for Feeds

samsung-edge-feeds-example

Once Edge Feeds are turned on, or if they were already turned on in the first place, you’ll now be able to view your feeds by switching your Galaxy S7 Edge display off.

When your display is off, the feeds will be shown on one edge of the screen. To begin with, the date and time Edge Feed will be shown. To change the Edge Feed, simply swipe the feed left or right. If a feed isn’t changing after swiping, try to swipe in the other direction.

This is a mistake that users often make, so make sure to try swiping in both directions. Remember to turn on more than one Edge Feed in the Feed settings menu, otherwise swiping to new feeds won’t be possible.

How to Hide the On-Screen Buttons on Android

Some Android devices have on-screen buttons for home, back and recent apps, as opposed to physical buttons. By default, you cannot hide the on-screen buttons on Android but you can make a few changes to your device so that the buttons can be hidden on command.

Follow this guide to learn how to hide the on-screen buttons on Android below. Whether you’re frustrated with the brightness or want extra screen space, our guide below will help you.

The greatest part about this guide is that it doesn’t require you to root your device. This guide will work with all Android devices that have access to the Google Play Store.

How to Hide the On-Screen Buttons

To begin with, you’ll need to download an app from the Google Play Store.

The app you need to download is called GMD Full Screen Immersive Mode and has been published on the App Store by a developer named Good Mood Droid.

Once you have downloaded the GMD Full Screen Immersive Mode app, simply tap the ‘open’ button to open the app.

ollie-good-mood-droid

The first thing you’ll be presented with when opening the app is a warning message. The message reads as follows:

“Keyboard may not work while navigation bar is hidden. Please restore navigation bar whenever you need to use keyboard!”

It’s very important that you keep this in mind at all times whilst using this app. Fortunately, it’s very easy to disable the app whenever you need to use the keyboard. We’ll explain how to do this later.

For now, let’s explain how to use the app to disable the on-screen buttons on Android. Once the app has been opened, you can minimize it and head to your Android homescreen.

From here, pull down the notification bar and you’ll be given access to a number of controls. The option on the far left will be used to activate the on-screen buttons, the option in the middle will disable the on-screen buttons and the option on the far right will hide the on-screen buttons and the notification bar.

ollie-strip-color

When the on-screen buttons and the notification bar have been disabled, a small strip of color can be seen at the bottom of your display. This will signal that the on-screen buttons are available – all you need to do is swipe up from the bottom of your display to bring the on-screen buttons back.

Further App Settings

If you want to disable the app temporarily, you can do so by tapping the word ‘Immersive’ in your notification panel. Once you have done this, you’ll be taken to the main application menu.

To disable the app, simply tap the switch in the top right corner to the ‘off’ position.

ollie-app-off

You can also choose a number of settings from within the app. You can decide whether to display the Immersive control panel in your notification bar, you can choose whether to make the notification icon invisible, whether the app starts up when you boot up your phone and whether the app is disabled or enabled in the locked screen.

There are also options for color, positioning and overall appearance. If you’re willing to pay for the pro version you can also set up specific rules for each of your applications.

Hopefully this guide has helped you to hide the on-screen buttons on Android at the tap of a button.

Have you ever noticed that when you plug headphones into your Android device, your sound automatically lowers? This ‘bug’ is actually a safety feature that has been implemented into Android to stop smartphone owners from damaging their ears.

You can turn the sound back up as soon as you’ve plugged your headphones in, but you’ll need to do this each and every time you plug in headphones which can be a minor inconvenience. If you’re confident with the audio level you’re using your headphones, understand the risks and would like to stop the messages from reducing your audio volume, follow the guide below.

Using Automate to Stop Sound Lowering

For this guide you’ll need to download and install an app from the Google Play Store called Automate. The app you’re looking for is from a developer named LlamaLab. With this app you’ll be able to change settings when certain actions on your device occur.

Once you have downloaded Automate, tap the ‘+’ button at the top of the screen to create a new Flow.

ollie-tap-plus-button

Once you’ve created a new Flow, you’ll have a page that’s mostly empty. You can make changes to this page by tapping the menu button in the top left. There are many things you can do with Automate so you may want to spend some time to get to grips with the app.

However, if you’d only like to use the app to stop sound lowering when you plug headphones in, simply follow the steps provided below.

Firstly, tap the menu button in the top left corner. Next, tap the Camera & Sound option. Doing so will open up a new list of options to choose from.

ollie-camera-sound

To begin with you’ll need to tap on the option that reads ‘Audio Volume?’ By doing this, a new block will appear on your empty page. Next, tap the empty block and a new settings menu will open.

You’ll need to make some changes to the settings menu. Make sure you follow the steps below carefully.

  1. Under the proceed option, choose ‘when changed.’
  2. Under minimum volume, choose 0%
  3. Under maximum volume, choose 70%
  4. Under Audio Stream, choose the setting you’d like this to apply to. If, for example, you’d like call volume to not be lowered, choose ring, if you’d like music volume to not be lowered, choose music.
  5. Next save the settings

You will now need to choose a new block from within the settings menu. Tap the Menu Button in the top left again. This time, under Camera & Sound and choose ‘audio volume set.’

ollie-volume-set

The Audio Volume set block will appear on your empty page, just like the ‘Audio Volume?’ block did. Next, tap the Audio Volume Set block and follow the steps provided below.

  1. Firstly, change the volume percent to a value you are happy to use safely. For example, if you usually listen to your music at 80% volume, choose 80%.
  2. Next You’ll need to choose your audio stream. This must be the same stream you choose in the first block. For example, if you chose music earlier, choose music again.
  3. Next, tap done in the top right corner.

ollie-volume-percent

Once you’ve created these two blocks you’ll need to connect them together.

  1. Hold the ‘yes’ circle from the ‘when audio volume’ block and drag it into the ‘in’ circle on the block below it.
  2. Hold the ‘no’ circle from the ‘when audio volume’ block and drag it into the ‘in’ circle on the block below it.
  3. Now hold the ‘OK’ circle on the ‘flow beginning’ block and connect it to the ‘in’ circle on the ‘when audio volume’ setting
  4. Your blocks should be connected in a similar way to the image shown below.

ollie-blocks-example

You can now tap on the tick button in the top right corner. A new page will appear that will let you start the process. Before tapping start, tap the ‘install permission’ button to ensure that Automate has the permissions it needs to adjust the audio volume.

ollie-install-permissions

Once you tap that button, you’ll need to download another app that sets permissions. Once installed, you can press back and you’ll now be able to run the process. Simply tap the start button at this point.

To make sure everything works, ensure that you press the ‘start’ setting when you are ready to begin the process.

Unfortunately, you’ll need to bring up the app to start the process each time you unplug your headphones. However, with this method you can pre-emptively stop the sound from lowering every time you insert your headphones into your device.

Rooting your LG G5 will give you full privileges to the Android system. After rooting, you can install root apps, remove bloatware, improve battery life, and perform amazing tweaks.

2016-11-30_022109

Rooting your LG G5 is a fairly simple process. Once you are able to grasp the steps involved, you should have a rooted G5 by the end of the article. Before we begin, here are the prerequisites:

  • An LG G5 H50 (Running Android 6.0.1) with an unlocked bootloader. Click here to begin the bootloader unlock or follow LG’s guide for unlocking the bootloader.
  • Android adb/fastboot utility for Windows which you can get here.
  • The latest TWRP recovery image.

Follow the steps below to root your LG G5 smartphone.

  1. Enable USB debugging on your device. Go to Settings > About and tap Build Number 8 times. Go back to Settings > Developer Settings and Turn USB Debugging ON
  1. Connect your G5 to your PC via USB and then open command prompt by pressing Ctrl + R and then typing cmd. Type in the following command:

    adb reboot bootloader

  2. Your phone will boot into fastboot mode. Ensure you allow debugging access when the phone prompts for it.
  1. Flash the TWRP recovery image to your G5. Make sure the image is in the same folder as the command prompt. In the cmd prompt window, enter the following command

    fastboot flash recovery twrp-x.x.x-x-h850.img

    * Replace x.x.x-x with the actual version you are flashing!

  2. Power off your phone and boot into recovery by pressing the Volume Down + Power Button combos or run the following command

Samsung Z1 is a budget smartphone running Samsung’s Tizen mobile OS. The Tizen store, as compared to the Google Play Store has a very limited number of apps and support. Due to this, Samsung invited several app developers to build apps like Facebook Messenger, Truecaller, Candy Crush, etc.

WhatsApp is available for a myriad of smartphones, including Samsung’s Z range of Tizen-powered smartphones. Installing WhatsApp Messenger on the Z1 isn’t as straightforward as compared to other platforms. The Application Compatibility Layer (ACL) app is required to run WhatsApp and every other ACL-enabled app in the Tizen store.

2016-12-04_182956

The steps below are fairly simple and will guide you on how to install ACL and the WhatsApp on your Z1.

  1. If ACL isn’t already installed on your device, visit the Tizen store (which is preinstalled on your device) and then search for and download ACL for Tizen which has a file size of about 48MB. You have to be signed in with your Samsung account to download apps from the Store.
  2. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to access Apps Screen and open the ACL application from the menu and then tap
  3. Tap Enabled from the list of options provided.
  4. Go back to Tizen Store and search for WhatsApp Messenger. Tap the application when the results are returned.

Almost all the Samsung Galaxy tab 3 8.0 users seem to have storage problems with their tablets. The main issue is that the tablet does not have an option for storing data directly to SD card. Even if it does have the option to select SD card as the preferred storage, it won’t store your data directly to SD card. This leads to storage problems since these tabs don’t come with a huge internal storage.

The problem started with the android version 4 (ICS and Jelly Bean) because before Ice Cream Sandwich update there was an option for storing apps directly to SD card. Google removed the option to directly install apps and other stuff to your SD card in 4.x versions. Since these tabs come with a Jelly Bean installed and have very limited internal storage, most of us are facing this issue.

Unfortunately there aren’t any methods to move your apps or directly install them to your SD card unless your phone is rooted. There are a few methods that you can try to save your media files in SD card though.

Method 1: Moving media to your SD card using your tablet

Storing media on your SD cards is a bit tedious because you have to move your data manually.

  1. Go to Apps by pressing Icon
  2. Select My Files
  3. Select the option Device Storage
  4. Select DCIM >> Camera (or any other folder you want the data to move) from the left pane.
  5. Now long press the picture/file you want to move and lift up your finger. It will highlight the selected file
  6. Click the button (3 bars) on the top right corner and select move/copy
  7. If you get a new screen with Device storage and SD card option then select SD card >> DCIM (or any other folder of your choice). If you stay on the same screen, select the extSDcrd >> DCIM (or any other folder you want) from the left pane
  8. Click the button (3 bars) on the top right corner and select paste

Method 2: Moving media to your SD card using Computer

You can transfer your media files from internal memory to SD card using your computer with this method.

  1. Connect your tablet to the computer
  2. Select the new drive (probably with the name of your tablet) that appeared with your other drives in My Computer.
  3. Go to DCIM > Pictures (or Downloads if you saved pictures from websites) and copy the desired files and paste them in a folder somewhere on Desktop
  4. Plug in your SD card and make a folder named DCIM and sub folder Pictures if it isn’t already there. Paste your tablet data in these folders.
  5. If your SD card is already in the tablet then you should be able to see another drive with your SD card name in My Computer. Select it and follow Step 4.
