The Samsung Note 3 N9005 LTE is a 4G-compatible variant of the Galaxy Note 3 – the Galaxy Note 3 was released in 3 different versions, with almost exactly the same hardware specs. The only difference between the 3 versions is network compatibility, SIM slots, and chipset. Everything else is precisely the same.

  • Note 3 N9000 – Single SIM, 3G/HSDPA networking, Exynos 5 chipset
  • Note 3 N9002 – Dual SIM, 3G/HSDPA networking, Snapdragon 800 chipset
  • Note 3 N9005 – Single SIM, 4G/LTE networking, Snapdragon 800 chipset

Because all 3 variants are virtually identical in size and appearance, you’ll need to look under Settings>About Phone to determine exactly which model you have. If you do indeed possess the N9005 model of the Galaxy Note 3, continue on. Even though the hardware is almost exactly the same, there are slight nuances in the bootloaders that require specific files depending on the model version, thus this guide is strictly for the N9005 LTE variant.

Requirements:

  1. Download Odin and launch it on your desktop.
  2. Download the TWRP and CF-Auto-Root package and place them on your desktop.
  3. Enable USB Debugging on your device by going into Settings > About > tap on “Build Number” 7 times until Developer Mode is confirmed, then go into Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging.
  4. Turn off your Galaxy Note 3 N9005 LTE and enter download mode by pressing Home + Volume Down together.
  5. Connect your N9005 to your PC via USB, Odin should show “Connection successful”.
  6. Click the AP tab and choose the TWRP package you downloaded. Make sure the boxes for “Auto Reboot” and “F. Reset Time” are already checked.
  7. Click the START button to begin flashing TWRP, which will take a minute or so. When it’s finished, repeat the same process with the CF-Auto-Root package.
  8. When you’re all finished, simply turn on your phone, and verify root status with Root Checker from Play Store.
