The Nexus 7 certainly has its flaws, and one of the most common ones is the device going into deep sleep and refusing to boot up no matter what the user does. The Nexus 7 sometimes refuses to boot up regardless of the amount of juice its battery has. While the cause of this issue has not been made official, Nexus 7 users who have seen this issue firsthand speculate that the issue may arise because of the use of a MicroUSB charger other than the one that came with the tablet, the device not entirely turning off or a kink with the tablet’s Operating System. Anyhow, the following are two methods that have been found to be highly effective at fixing this issue:

Method 1: Resolving Nexus 7 Power Issues

  1. Ensure that there is no pent up dust or lint in the Nexus 7’s MicroUSB port.
  2. Plug the MicroUSB charger that came with the device into a working power outlet.
  3. Plug the USB cable connected to the charger into the unit’s MicroUSB port.
  4. Check to see whether or not the USB cable is secured into the MicroUSB port.
  5. Turn the switch to the power outlet on and wait for a minimum of 1 minute.
  6. Press and hold the Nexus 7’s power button for no less than 30 seconds. Only when the user holds the power button for 30 seconds will they be able to see any results. After 30 seconds, the device should turn on.

Method 2: Resolving Nexus 7 Power Issues

  1. Use tools to open the tablet up so that its battery, which is not user-replaceable can be accessed. This is the more invasive of the two methods that are known to be effective against Nexus 7 power issues. Opening a Nexus 7 up is a pretty easy procedure. However, while opening their tablet up, a person should be careful not to damage the body of the device in any way.
  2. Take the device’s battery out and let it rest for at least 2 minutes.
  3. Reinsert the battery once it has been allowed to rest for a minimum of 2 minutes.
  4. Carefully close the unit back up.
  5. Press and hold the power button for 15-30 seconds, and the device should boot up.
